More retro than retro!
Ever wondered what Caesar’s favorite board game was, or what games the ancient priests of Mesopotamia played on top of their ziggurats?
We have the answer – and better yet, we have the games!
Yes, the dark magicians of Egregore Productions have entered into a pact with the carpenters of Ronald’s Hout- en Meubelwerf. The result is a bizarre time travel, in which we bring back games from ancient history in a new guise. These games are often thousands of years old. Their original players have now turned to dust, but we can bring them back to life if we place the pieces and start the game again.

We start around 2600 BC (The King’s Game of Ur) and continue playing until the Vikings show up (Hnefatafl). Along the way we also stop at the Egyptians (Senet) and Romans (Ludus Latrunculorum), we are visited by the Moors (Alquerque) and we pay a lightning visit to the medieval Britons (Molenspel). And maybe there is a surprise from prehistory?
All our game boards are made of local wood, and come complete with written explanations and history.
One stall with more than 5600 years of game history…you have to see it!
